Louis Galante or "Luigi", to his European
friends and family, completed his college studies which were done in the United
States and Paris, France, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in
1978. He then moved to Barcelona, Spain to work with Catalan artisans, studying
techniques in furniture decoration and stained glass.
Subsequently he received his
second degree in painting restoration from the Restoration Institute,
Palazzo Spinelli in Florence, Italy. In 1989 he opened a studio for book
illustration in his beloved Florence, obtaining commissions from publishers in
the USA, UK, and various other western european countries.

 Having lived most of his adult life abroad, Luigi moved back to his native Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2004 where he continues to pursue his career in book illustration, and due to his great love for italian frescoes, has recently begun a second career painting murals.  |
